Learning and Teaching Curriculum Advisors, Rarotonga
Experienced teachers with the ability to share ideas and can support a range of pedagogical developments as well as have specific strengths in:
• Health and Physical Education – Secondary/ NCEA.
• The Arts – Secondary focus with NCEA.
• Inclusive Education – Implement the Inclusive Education Policy and initiatives carrying out relevant assessments, construct reports and IEP collaboratively with teachers, parents, relevant stakeholders and students.
• Careers & Enterprise – Supporting the integration of effective careers education into teaching and learning programmes.
• Language Research & Resource Development – Conduct and encourage research into relevant teaching methods and styles, help develop quality resources and promote Te Re Maori to the wider community.
While some roles do have a specific curriculum or expertise focus, advisor positions support all ministry-wide programmes with schools and contribute to the strategic direction of the education sector.
Other responsibilities may include curriculum review of a specific essential learning area and to support teachers with the implementation and development of resources for the revised curriculum documents. Secondary advisor positions include extensive NCEA support for secondary teachers, and having experience with the NCEA qualification is essential.
All positions are based at the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Nikao, Rarotonga, and involves travel to the Pa Enua (outer islands) to support all schools.
