- The Ministry of Education has an exciting leadership opportunity and is seeking applications from qualified and experienced Principals or School Leaders for the above position to commence in January 2025.
As the National College, Tereora plays a crucial role in developing the future leaders of our country. With a roll of over 700 students, the school provides quality education for students from Years 9 to 13 and offers NZ NCEA qualifications at levels one to three. We are seeking a visionary leader who can shape the direction of the College and align it with the nation’s educational needs for the next decade.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven educational leadership skills and experience.
- A deep understanding of the New Zealand Qualification Framework (NZQA) and the current changes in the NCEA system, with the ability to lead these reforms within the Cook Islands context.
- A strong sense of community in fostering positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
- Proven ability to build and lead a team of professionals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven performance as an outstanding practitioner of teaching in at least one major learning area.
- Experience with governing frameworks and required policies and procedures.
- Good business practices, including financial and resource management.
- The ability to develop and implement strategic and annual operational plans.
- The ability to anticipate future educational trends, develop strategic plans, and implement initiatives that ensure Tereora College remains at the forefront of education in the region.
- Sound and decisive judgment.
