[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Cook Islands curriculum consists of Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum and curriculum statements in Languages (Maori and English), Science, Mathematics, The Arts (Visual and Performing Arts), Health and Physical Well-being, Social Science, Technology and Enterprise. The last two curriculum statements are yet to be developed, and the plan is to have these drafted by 2009 and 2010 respectively. CAU also facilitates the development of learning and teaching programmes that align with, and complement the Cook Islands curriculum. These programmes include marine studies, bilingualism and bilingual education, literacy, numeracy, inclusive education, careers and guidance, and life-skills.

The implementation of the Cook Islands curriculum and learning and teaching programmes is inclusive of a range of approaches and strategies that are contextualized to ensure the success and sustainability of the implementation process. In the main, the implementation process is delivered by the advisory team often working in small teams, pairs or individually and facilitating professional development training at various levels – international, regional, national, island/school clustering, whole school, syndicates, departmental, small groups and individual units – and through the medium of conferences, workshops, courses, attachments, twinning, mentoring, modeling, observation, action groups and the like.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][td_text_with_title custom_title=”Early Childhood Education (ECE)”]
